Appalachian State University works with multiple NASA institutions to study various subfields of Atmospheric Science. AppalAIR works with the Global Monitoring Division of the Earth System Research Laboratory, ESRL/GMD, to conclude Aerosols studies in the Appalachia Regions. It also works with NASA's AErosol RObotic NETwork, AERONET, on establishing an Aerosols database for various properties. AppalAIR works on NASA's Mirco-Pulse Lidar Network, MPLNET, to measure aerosol and cloud vertical structure and boundary layer heights. Lastly, AppalAIR collaborates with the Solar Radiation Network, SolRad-Net, on solar flux measurements.
